Senior Data Analyst

As part of the product team at 22seven, you’ll be a key part of driving our business effectiveness and managing our product. We like to operate according to the Lean Startup methodology and data is a critical component in building, measuring, learning and iterating. You’ll be a thought leader for improving existing and implementing new data solutions that enable us to use data to drive management decision making and help our customers manage their money better.

About you

  • You are experienced with data analysis in SQL, R and Python and using data visualisation tools.

  • You have some experience leading others and are highly collaborative by nature.

  • You are a critical thinker with a strong commitment to analytical rigour and data ethics.

  • You are proactive with a drive for understanding and finding solutions to complex problems.

  • You are passionate about personal finance and believe in its life-changing possibilities.

  • You are keen on working collaboratively with a cross-functional team, using Agile methodologies.

Here are some of the things you’ll look after:

  • Leading data team members in studies, tool selection and implementation, and work methods.

  • Ensuring a relentless focus on data quality and improving our data to serve business needs.

  • Performing reviews, finding solutions, drawing up plans and outlining a roadmap for our data team.

  • Coding, debugging, testing, documenting and supporting data oriented server based applications.

  • Evolving our data ecosystem and capabilities to leverage our data in new and powerful ways.

Team collaboration

  • Work with our Data Analysts, to ensure we are analysing the right things, reacting in the right ways and that our data team is working in an efficient manner.

  • Work with our Product Owners to ensure that we are informed about and reacting to customer behaviour and product performance.

  • Work with our Product Manager to develop solutions and plans that reveal how we can use data to improve our business and customer’s financial positions.

  • Work with our Core Developers and DevOps team to maintain our data infrastructure and ensure continuous data security, integrity and availability.

  • Work with our Front End Developers to integrate behaviour tracking into the service and all future releases so we know what is and what is not working for our customers.

  • Work with our Svens to continuously improve our measurement of support performance, customer experience and operational support process success.

  • Work with our Marketing team to understand the effectiveness of our campaigns and enable mass communications to our customers.


  • Plan and execute studies to advance our business and customer understanding.

  • Design customer segmentations and analyses that lead to product management insights.

  • Produce new Nudges that create value for the business and our customers.

  • Develop business intelligence dashboards to inform us of our business performance.

  • Identify solutions that will allow us to share information with our partners and the public.

  • Support routine customer product interviews and feature testing sessions.

The Office.

Our HQ is in one of the oldest theatres in South Africa, right in the middle of the Cape Town City Bowl. Imagine if you smashed a temple of amazingness into a really comfortable lounge with great art on the walls. That still wouldn’t be as awesome as our offices. Needless to say, anyone who wants to work with us should be in Cape Town, or plan to be.
